AFTER ADOPTIONAfter long are careful thought we have decided the time is right to change our corporate charity. As of Monday 4th April Timpson will be giving its wholehearted support to After Adoption, a national charity, which helps those whose lives are affected by adoption. We have emjoyed a long and hugely successful association with Childline, raising over £1m for the children's helpline, but we can make a real difference to After Adoption, which needs our help even more. Once again, great customer service will be the main focus of our fund raising efforts - FREE small jobs in return for a £1 donation in the After Adoption charity box. |

How we plan to raise £1M"I know from our experience of supporting ChildLine in the past that most money put into our collecting tins on the counter comes from customers appreciating the great customer service they have received in our shops. Our people are happy to do a little job for free in return for a small donation of £1 in to the After Adoption tin. We hope to raise £1m this way. Feel free to ask our people to do a small job for you - like a quick glue or stitch in return for that £1!" |

A Guide to AttachmentA guide to Attachment explains Attachment in simple words and pictures, all proceeds of the book go to After Adoption "My 35 years experience as a foster carer and adoptive parent has given me an insight into the often challenging behaviour of some children who have gone through the care system. I've written a little book, which I hope will explain why some children and young people behave in the way they do. It's available in all our shops and online click here to purchase. |
Ex-offenders
Timpson are providing very practical support to ex offenders, working closely with a number of prisons. Not only do we actively recruit ex offenders to work for us, we have also set up a full time training facility at HMP Liverpool and HMP Wandsworth in London . Timpson colleagues train inmates in a workshop in a prison workshop environment.
Work Experience Programme
We also are actively involved in a work experience programme where we offer the opportunity of a work placement on a day release basis with a view to full time employment.
Dreams Come True
As well as helping charities and other good causes, we also try to help those closer to 'home'. colleagues are encouraged to write to John and James to tell them about how we could make their dreams come true, and one of these is chosen each month.
