It’s always really important that your most precious pieces of jewellery are properly insured, just in case you need to make a claim in the future.
Timpson can now arrange reliable and accurate jewellery valuations for you. Simply bring the jewellery into your local Timpson shop and we’ll send it securely to our expert valuation partner, SafeGuard, to evaluate.
SafeGuard is part of the Birmingham Assay Office and is the UK’s leading jewellery valuation service. They’re the masters of jewellery valuations, so you’ll always get an unbiased, accurate value for your item.
Once your jewellery has been examined, you’ll receive a written valuation document that tells you how much it’s worth. This can then be used as a legal document for insurance, so you’ll be properly covered if the item is ever lost or stolen.

How long do jewellery repairs take?
Every piece of jewellery is different, so lead times will vary between repairs. Most jewellery repairs are typically completed within 1 week, and chain repairs and ring resizing services can be completed much faster.
However, replacing missing gemstones in rings can take a little longer, as our jewellers need time to source the best possible replacement.
How much do jewellery repairs cost?
Jewellery repair prices depend on the type of service you need, and can vary depending on the size, style and type of item we need to repair. For example, clasp replacements typically start at around £34.95, but the price depends on the colour, material and size you need.
Our jewellers examine each piece of jewellery individually, assess what needs to be done, and then work hard to offer you the lowest prices they can.
How much does it cost to resize a ring?
Since no two rings are the same, there are many factors involved in the cost of ring resizing. Whether you’re sizing up or sizing down, the most important factor is usually the style and material of the ring in question. For example, sizing up a platinum ring will cost significantly more than sizing up a silver ring.
Ring resizing prices typically start as low as £34.95, but the cost depends entirely on your particular ring.
What happens if I am unhappy with my repair?

Do your jewellery repairs come with a warranty?
We offer a one-year guarantee with all of our jewellery repairs, unless otherwise stated.
Is polishing included with my jewellery repair?
Yes, we ultrasonically clean and polish all of our precious metal jewellery repairs, including rhodium plating on white gold. Your item will be returned to you beautifully finished and sparkling like new!
Do you repair base metal jewellery?
Some base metals are porous and brittle. We would need to see the item before we can offer a quote. We will always do our very best to offer repairs on base metals.
Do you buy gold, silver or platinum?
Timpson do not currently purchase gold, silver or platinum.
